On Dublin Street

On Dublin Street - Samantha Young 3.5 stars

On Dublin Street, the first book in the On Dublin Street series by Samantha Young. Jocelyn "Joss" Butler left the United States after a tragic accident involving her family and moved to Scotland. She buried her past, ignored her grief and started life over. She moves into a new apartment on Dublin Street and meets a sexy man.

Braden Carmichael is used to getting what he wants, when he wants. From the moment he walks into the apartment on Dublin Street and sees a naked Jocelyn, he is determined to get her in bed. He senses her standoffish behavior and proposes a no-strings-attached arrangement that will satisfy both of their sexual desires.

This book seemed to have the current erotica formula: wealthy leading man, heroine with a troubled past, sexual arrangement, secrets slowly leak, characters fall in love, the happy ending. On Dublin Street follows this style with a few tweaks. But unlike the other books of this genre, it was hard for me to like the main character. Joss seemed cold, detached and too pressed on not feeling emotions. The other characters, like Joss's roommate Ellie and Braden's best friend Adam, carried the story. They seemed far more interesting. For this reason, I am looking forward to the second book in this series. Let's see what the other residents on Dublin Street are up to.
